Soraya Abdelhouaret

“Each piece is built in layers, balancing control and natural alteration.”

— EXCERPT FROM INTERVIEW (16.02.25)

Soraya Abdelhouaret is a multidisciplinary artist working with mineral materials, metal alloys, and experimental processes. Having spent childhood between foggy northern shores and the remnants of industrial landscapes, Soraya Abdelhouaret developed an early fascination with stones and their transformations—an interest that continues to shape her practice. Trained at the Beaux-Arts du Nord and the Beaux-Arts de Paris, she later expanded her expertise to include metalwork and sheet metal fabrication.

Soraya Abdelhouaret’s work explores the intersections of the body, memory, and materiality, often incorporating chemical and physical alterations that echo natural cycles of change and resilience. Drawing from both traditional craft techniques and industrial processes, she creates layered installations where control meets organic transformation. Whether working with metal, stone, or soon glass, Soraya Abdelhouaret’s practice is deeply attuned to material histories and the possibilities of reinvention.
