Servane Martin

“We must let the ecosystem and its needs direct us, rather than shaping it to fit our current way of life in order to ensure better coexistence.”

— EXCERPT FROM INTERVIEW (15.02.25)

Servane Martin’s work emerges from a deep connection to nature, guided by a belief in the transformative power of raw materials. Her journey into design began with studies in interior architecture, followed by a residency at Mobilier National, where she co-founded the PALEO collective with Nicolas Boulben and Marin Scart.* This transdisciplinary project, centered on raw clay, wax, and digital matter, sparked her interest in creating sustainable, adaptive designs that evolve over time.

Servane’s designs focus on the life cycle of objects, utilizing bio-sourced and reclaimed materials to address ecological challenges. Her work champions imperfection and fluidity, drawing inspiration from the unpredictable beauty of plants and landscapes. Through her innovative use of clay and wax, she explores how objects can be reshaped and redefined, challenging conventional ideas of permanence and utility. Her approach invites a reflection on our relationships with objects, consumption, and the environment, aiming to foster a deeper connection with the materials that surround us.
