Manuel Aparicio Ugalde

"I feel like when I present work and there’s only one medium, people just see a glimpse of who I am or what my work is, rather than the whole experience.

— EXCERPT FROM INTERVIEW (03.02.25)

Manuel Aparicio Ugalde is a Mexican artist currently based in Paris whose work is shaped by a deep curiosity about history, identity, and humanity’s place in the world. Through painting, sculpture, video games, and immersive installations, he explores the intersections of personal experience, cultural memory, and the evolving relationship between the natural and built environments.

Aparicio Ugalde’s practice is fluid and multidisciplinary, drawing from both intuition and analysis. He often works with materials like cement and found objects, reimagining them in ways that reflect on permanence, fragility, and the imprint of human presence. His project Ciudad-Bioma creates enclosed ecosystems where industrial materials coexist with organic growth, mirroring the tension between urbanization and nature. Deeply influenced by historical turning points, his work invites reflection on the choices that shape civilizations and the alternative realities they leave behind.
